Frigidaire Tall Twin Freezer Repair
The Problem
Owners of Frigidaire tall twin freezers frequently report that the ice maker stops producing ice surprisingly early — often within 2–4 years of ownership, right after the manufacturer warranty has expired.

Why It’s Often Called “Unfixable”: Standard diagnostic flow stops at the water valve itself. Once the assembly is replaced and the unit makes a few batches of ice, the job is considered complete. When the same freezer comes back with the identical complaint months later, we think that we’ve already eliminated the water valve and that something is going on with the ice maker itself and will replace that due to experiences over the years. The schematics blame the heater, that’s not there or not the problem and it not replaceable leading to a non repairable diagnosis. Go buy a new one for 10K$. Sorry.
Discovery of the Root Cause
I’ve dug into this problem, literelly and found the root cause of the problem and the way to fix it. The water line is too close to the freezer liner and needs to be moved. Simple fix right….. well take a look. I’ve refined this process but this is the down and dirty in the trenches war process to figure it out. I can relocate the water line. I know where to cut, where to pull, where to relocate. It’s a good repair but a little dirty. Fine with me.
